The aim of the professional internship in the 1st year of study is to introduce the student to the practical aspects of social work, to expand awareness of different areas of the profession and the target groups of social work, and to prepare the student for the completion and selection of professional internship in the second and third year of study so that it contributes to the fulfillment of the educational objectives of the study programme.

The aim of supervised professional practice in the 2nd and 3rd year of study is to offer students a safe space for sharing experiences and insights gained during practical fieldwork and for their reflection, linking theoretical knowledge from studies with the practical experience, formulating supervision goals and using supervision as a tool for reflection. An integral part of the course is strengthening the student’s professional identity, the ability to reflect on themselves and their experiences, and to think about their personal and professional development.

The aim of the course is to provide students with the experience of social relationships and ways of working present or applied in social service organizations and to encourage reflection on this experience. Furthermore, the course enables students to practically apply methods they have become acquainted with during their theoretical studies and to confront their theoretical understanding of social work with its real-life implementation.

Another objective of the two-year internship process is to stimulate the process of student identification with social work as a profession. An integral part of the course is supervision of the practical trainings, which is aimed at supporting students´ professional development.
